School Nutrition Working Committee receives Healthways grant
The Alignment Nashville School Nutrition Working Committee has received a $50,000 grant from the Healthways Foundation to support training and orientation for cafeteria managers during the next school year. The grant is based on the 3-5 year goals developed by the committee earlier this year (see goals in poster above). Through the grant, cafeteria managers, will attend the national School Nutrition Conference this summer in Nashville and will then team up to take the ideas they bring back and demonstrate how they can make them happen in the upcoming school year. Teachers and students from the high school culinary academies will join the cafeteria managers and will implement student led programs to encourage other students to eat healthy during the 2011-2012.
